Dear Family and Friends,
If you are receiving this letter it is because you have some knowledge of the story of my husband Michael Cardamone. Some of you personally know Michael, some of you know his parents, his sister, his family or one of the many individuals we call friends. No matter who you know, you have in some way come to learn about the sadness of our situation.
Since the fall of 2002, my husband and I have lived a nightmare of being falsely accused and watching a life as we knew normal be destroyed. We believed in a judicial system that would make it right, yet we were so terribly disappointed when it failed us in so many ways.
I am deeply saddened and shocked by the verdict because I know, without question, he is innocent. I know because I taught these very girls along side Michael everyday. During the trial so many things were not allowed to be presented to the jury. I believe with all my heart that we would not be here in this situation had all the facts be brought forward. There would be no question he would be home today.
Michael and I want to be reunited, all together, with our boys more than anything. It’s all we talk about, dream about, pray about. We want our boys to have an active father in their upbringing. They deserve to have a father especially one as wonderful as Michael. My hope is that he is returned to them before they understand what they are missing. Our attorneys, family and friends all believe and support Michael but what is most important is that nearly 100 witnesses testified in his behalf; gymnasts, other coaches, numerous parents, all who were there, all who watched everyday, all who saw nothing ever inappropriate. They were there, like myself, they are telling the TRUTH.
I have tried desperately not to ask for the help of others yet I find myself in a situation where that is no longer possible. With the help of immediate family we have gone through all financial means possible and have taken out loans that will take a lifetime to repay. The legal fees continue to grow, as we have a long battle ahead of us fighting to turn this injustice around. Michaels life and future depends on me and all those who can help us. He sits in a 4x8 cell waiting to come home, where he rightfully belongs with me and our 2 beautiful sons. It is now, because of this awful situation that I am begging for help and your assistance.
An account has been set up to help with this overwhelming debt and continued legal fees. It will be greatly appreciated if you (and anyone else who is aware of this situation) are able to help with this monumental task my family is facing.
I love my husband with all my heart, and I pray nobody finds insult to this letter. This has become my last resort, I hope you can help to bring my husband home.
Best regards to all and thank you.
