We, the undersigned, believe that something went terribly wrong in the case of Michael Cardamone.
A young coach was convicted after nearly one hundred witnesses testified on his behalf that they never
saw anything inappropriate occur, as stated by his accusers. All testified that these allegations occurred
in an open area, in full view of: his wife, other coaches, these very girls’ own teammates, recreational
gymnasts, cheerleaders, and many parents. The parents further testified that they observed all activity
at the facility whenever they wanted to. Even the accusers testified that they did not see anything
inappropriate happen to the “very girls” in their group that said it did happen. So, we ask … how could
this have occurred … hundreds and hundreds of times, yet no one saw it occur even once?
No corroborating evidence … something very tragic and suspect has occurred.
Some of us are teachers, counselors, tutors, while others are swim, soccer, skating, dance, and
gymnastics coaches - - still others of us are physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors - -
music/piano teachers who teach from our home - - religious ed teachers - - the list goes on - - and all of
us watched this case and witnessed a young man imprisoned unjustly. Do we all need to change our
professions, since we live in a society where even a hug from a preschool teacher can now potentially
end their career? Many of us are actually alone with our students … yet this coach was surrounded by
many others. His verdict raises many troubling questions.
Could this happen to us, and who would protect us from false accusations?
There are true victims of real crime, and we are in no means trying to minimize their situations. However,
this is not the case at hand. You can right this wrong now - - one innocent person convicted is one too
many!
Bring Michael Cardamone home to his wife and his family.
We, the undersigned, ask at the very most a probationary sentencing to turn this injustice around. Not
only Mike's future is on the line, but the future of all people who work closely with children will be affected
by the decisions made in this case.
We are the supporters of Michael Cardamone who will continue to grow and fight until he is exonerated!
